New details on the laser lights of BMW



BMW prepares Laser lights which have already been placed in original i8. O Hanafi Abdul talked to Autonews and gave some more details of the technology with new fixtures. The laser light fixtures could go out in production over the next 2-3 years, with the production version of the i8 (will occur in 2013) be the first who will time.

The luminaires using 3 laser diodes that produce 10 small beams. The blue light is created using gallium nitride, which then becomes white with the help of a disc phosphorus. It is dangerous to health, since light is not emitted directly from the source, but becomes a very bright beam using mirrors, which does not bother me in the face of drivers.

The BMW says that the laser lights are almost 1000 times stronger light than conventional LED consuming half the energy from an LED, and is 100 times smaller than the LED. To system has an average life of 10,000 hours.
