Volvo styling chief Peter Horbury moves to Geely

Peter Horbury, the styling boss at Volvo Car Corp., is transferring to the Swedish vehicle manufacturer's sister brand, Geely Group, to serve as senior vice president design. The successor of Horbury as Volvo's styling chief has yet to be named. The process is ongoing, a Volvo spokesperson said, adding that the design departments at the two companies are run independently. China's Zhejiang Geely Holding Group owned the two vehicle manufacturers.

Volvo CEO Stefan Jacoby commented that Horbury has played "a very important role" for the design of Volvo during "a long period of time," adding that he has "a legendary position in the automotive world." Horbury is credited with moving Volvo away from its boxy origins to the sleeker, leaner models seen in the automaker's current product range.

In 1991, he started his career with the Swedish automaker as head of design, assisting in the creation of new models such as the XC90 crossover prior to his move to Ford's Premier Automotive Group in 2002 where he was responsible for the design at all four PAG brands: Jaguar, Aston Martin, Volvo and Land Rover. After two years, Horbury transferred to Detroit to serve as executive director of design at Ford, prior to his return to Volvo in 2009 to serve as the vice president of design. Zhejiang Geely bought Volvo from Ford in 2010 for around $1.5 billion. From 2007 to 2010, Ford sold all four brands comprising the PAG group.

C30 was introduced with standard features, but more, including a standard Bluetooth interface for hands-free phone, gearshift buttons with aluminum inlay, leather parking brake cover, trip computer and cruise control.Volvo C30  has two models, the C30 T5 and the T5 R-Design is powered by a 2.5-liter
turbocharged 5-cylinder that produces 227 horsepower. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard while a 5-speed “Geartronic” is automatic with “Auto-stick” function optional. At the front of the Volvo C30 model has been redesigned as a whole, including body panels such as front wings. Chassis, with MacPherson front suspension is optimized to provide exceptional control and precise response to driver input. Although the changes were most numerous in the front, the back also offers a new concept and detailed. Chassis rear suspension uses multilink axle.

To the interior of the Volvo C30 offers a wide selection of new interior. Among others, there is now a combination of colors as Espresso / Music, comprised of the top and dark brown color, fresh blonde on the lower side door. Interior is using the concept of dynamic and elegant with leather seats black and white color combination. There is also a new multimedia system package includes Sirius satellite radio and Dynaudio Premium Sound System with Dolby Pro Logic II Surround Sound, 10 Dynaudio speakers and 650 watts. In addition there is also a Volvo HDD navigation system with real-time traffic, remote control and care maps, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS makes it easy), a power glass moonroof, leather seating surfaces for T5 and various metallic paint color.
